Drywood Termites

Drywood termites alate and soldier
Drywood termites usually infest the upper portions of a structure such as attic beams and wood sheathing. An important treatment measure for drywood termites is to make all the wood elements of the structure undesirable. Our preventive treatments will do just that. Any existing termite infestations will be controlled and future infestations will be prevented.

Dampwood Termites

A termite colony
Dampwood termites infest areas where the wood is somewhat moist. They leave very little visual evidence. Proper inspection is important to discover where they are infesting. Wood that is hollow and soft is a good sign of dampwood termites. Soil treatments and treating the areas under the house that are in contact with moisture is a good way of controlling dampwood infestations.

Subterranean Termites

Subterranean termites are the most widespread and destructive termite species in the US. Subterranean termites excavate passages through the soil to reach wood in direct contact with the soil. They will access above-ground structures through cracks and cavities that occur in concrete slabs and house foundations. This type of termite can be controlled using preventive soil treatments.

Formosan Termites

Formosan Subterranean Termite alate and soldier
The formosan termite is the most aggressive and potentially destructive termite species in the US. The formosan termite was first discovered in Taiwan (also known as Formosa) in the 1900s. It is said to have reached the US mainland in the 1940s on military ships returning from the Pacific during WWII. The formosan termite poses a severe threat in areas where it is established. Successful control of this species of termite is accomplished with proper soil treatments.
